THEME: Kindness and Goodness (Galatians 5:22-23)
Kinder Box: "P" verse
Mystery Bag: Ephesians 4:32
At first glance, the words "kindness" and "goodness" seem to say the same thing, but we can see at closer look that they are indeed different aspects of love. Kindness is like the love of a grandparent, just kind and not wanting to hurt anyone, while goodness is like the love of a parent. Goodness, like the love of a father, is willing to confront and discipline when necessary. Goodness does the right thing regardless of the consequences. We are to have both these fruits growing in our lives with the help of the Holy Spirit.
1. Read Ephesians 4:32 - how does this verse say we can be kind to one another (by forgiving each other) **
2. Read Colossians 3:12 - name two things this verse tells us we are to "clothe" ourselves in (compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience) **
3. According to Ephesians 2:6-7, how did God express His great kindness to us (by giving us Jesus) **
4. What does 3 John 11 say we are to imitate? (what is good)
5. Read Psalm 23 - what does it says will "surely follow" us all the days of our lives if the Lord is our Shepherd? (goodness and mercy)
** questions for k5/k5 children
Bible Bowl is open to ages 4 through 4th grade, and runs Sunday nights from 5:30-7 p.m. in September and October, and then again in January and February.
